Caring for destination
This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:

Enjoy your time in our resort on the white sandy beach or in the tropical gardens dotted with large shady palm trees also knowing that sustainability efforts are contributing to preservation of environment, respect for the local culture and supporting the community through various initiatives;

1. A breeding ground for the Toloa bird, one of Samoa's rare birds, has been created with a protected sanctuary in the resort grounds, with increases of numbers observed as a result.

2. The resort has its own waste treatment plant, meaning no risk of contamination of the water ways, ground or air.

3. Historic sites of cultural and international value have been protected on the grounds including old burial grounds, original reconstruction of a 100 year old chapel made of burnt coral, and the maintenance of remains of bunkers used by the American forces during the World War II.

4. There are notices in all rooms requesting guests to minimise water usage when requesting clean linen.

5. Use of traditional craftsmen in the creation of carved posts and traditional fales (open houses).}

6. Work experience opportunities provided for local students studying tourism.

7. Support for tours which encourage cultural awareness, interaction with the local community, eco-tourism and destination awareness.

8. Support for local professional groups (e.g. engineers doctors, lawyers, nurses, teachers) with the cost of annual conferences.

"Aggie Greys was great for the one night we stayed there. The only problem was - it was too far from town. Definitely need a car next time we stay there."

Mr. Nicholas KIng J. - United States on 13/08/2008
"After staying in beach fales over the rest of Samoa was really looking forward to staying in an upmarket place. The deocr was beautiful, the showers and hot water a dream!!! We were very rudely talked to by some of the reception staff when we complained about room service which took 120 mins to deliver the wrong thing!!! This was upsetting as the customer at aggies is not always right it seems"
Ms. Jane D. - New Zealand on 27/07/2008
"Our room had a fabulous view overlooking the beach.Everyone was SO friendly and helpful.Even the weather was great!!!"
Mr. Richard B. - United Kingdom on 12/03/2008
"Overall our stay at the resort was very pleasant. I am very disappointed in what I can only assume was the cleaning staff of my room. Myself and one of my roommates in room 410 had 4 packets and 3 packets respectively of cigarettes taken from our cartons of cigarettes which was left on the desk in the room. I know these were taken as these went missing only after our second day there and one packet was taken from the bottom row of my carton which seemed odd. What makes me think that it was the staff was that one of our other party members who were staying in room 411 was lying on his bed one day when a cleaning staff member came in and without noticing him on the bed, went straight over to their bags and was peering around the bags, and they were very surprised when they turned around and saw him lying on the bed watching them.

It may be also beneficial for the rooms to start to include minibars with other such things as wine bottle openers and wine glasses available to use.

The remaining staff of the resort however were very pleasant to deal with and always saying Malo, talofa, and hello and always smiling which made the experience there a lot better."
Mr. Deryk H. - New Zealand on 17/09/2007
