"We were really disappointed to discover that the fales at the Samoan Outrigger were hostel/backpackers style rather than being private rooms. On the website in the description of the fales it said that there were 'shared facilities' which we understood to mean that bathrooms and toilets would be shared while rooms would be private which was not the case. This was especially disappointing as we are a couple who wanted a romantic holiday and instead had a bed for a third person in our room! I am not sure if the description was intentionally misleading or if it just wasn't explained very well. I think at the very least it should be explained more fully on the website so that other people are not misled as we were."

"Room was pokey and claustrophobic. They did not have our booking, but rooms available. I went across the road and found something far better, and cheaper too. This is a 'backpackers' masquerading as a hotel."
Mr. Brian G. - New Zealand on 07/12/2008
"The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable."
Ms. Leah D. - Australia on 12/10/2008

4. Constant ceiling noise from reception area very difficult to sleep.(Room 7)
5. Poor maintenace as the washbasin surround had come away and not very hygenic
6.Poor ventilation, air conditioning noisy and only functional on high.
7. Paying a bond of 20 tala for the room key was absurd.

"very clean and great breakfast, probably one of the best and cheapest accomodation options in Apia."
Ms. Ilva R. - Germany on 28/11/2007
"This is a friendly ,unpretentious and very relaxed hotel, which provides clean accommodation, a great variety of tropical fruit at breakfast, and has a pleasant private garden and pool."
Mrs. Judy R. - New Zealand on 18/08/2007
"A lovely place to stay, great staff ,great breakfast my main complaint would be the noise of the dogs fighting for most of the night.Samoa and in particular Apia , really needs to sort out the problem of uncontrolled dogs at night. My other small grizzle would be that I dont mind a cold shower later in the day but in the morning would have liked just a little bit of warm to take the edge off."
Mrs. Jenny F. - New Zealand on 14/07/2006
"Nice place and the service was friendly. The rooms were very basic and could be improved with a splash of colour. Hot water was not always available."
Mr. Jason G. - Vietnam on 07/02/2006
