We can collect you from the wharf, airport or your hotel if within the township area. If you are staying out of town transport can be arranged to collect you at an extra cost.

A packed lunch is provided with cold beverages and all your entrance fees are covered in the quoted price.  Several tour options are available.


Notes:

If you are on a tight scheduled Holiday and wish to see Savaii but are unable to stay the night, we are happy to collect your from the Salelologa wharf (ideally the 8am or 6am boats should be caught), Take you around the island to have our ‘sights' impressed upon you, a meal and a swim included, and then return you to your departing ferry on the same day.

  • Tours are relaxed and additional stops are happily made upon request for photos etc.
  • Bookings are essential as vehicle options are dependant on the number of passengers.
  • What to bring- a sturdy pair of shoes, sunscreen and a hat, a towel and some change for swimming,  and of course a camera!

Savaiian Tours

The Savaiian tours aim at giving you a true Savaiian experience. We provide informative guided tours in comfortable vehicles. Our guides are local residents knowledgeable in the local history and environment and do their best to answer all your questions. Our aim is to cater for all your "tour" needs to facilitate a relaxed and enjoyable experience of Savaii.

Taga Option - This tour takes a little more then half a day and covers the south coast of Savaii. It  starts  off  with  a  brief  visit to our  very colourful Salelologa market, and  then  heads off down  the south coast.

This  drive will take you through several small coastal villages  and  lush rainforest area. Stops  are  made  at various natural attractions such  as the Satupaited fresh water  springs,  and Taga sea arches as well  as area's  of  historical  significance.

The  highlight  of this tour is  the arrival at the Taga blowholes which are spectacular in sight  and  force. Natural tubes in lava rock  meeting the ocean allow for ocean swells to shoot water in  jet streams as high  as 30 metres into the air. Heading back into Salelologa stops are  made at the Satupaitea springs and eventually our beautiful Afuaau falls where  a rock poool as the base of  a waterfall allows for  a swimming break. Lunch will be provided here.

1. Tafua Crater : For those tramping enthusiasts, Tafua is a village along the Southcoast which is home to an old volcano. The Tafua crater is an easy 30 minute walk up to the first crater base, with an additional semi-difficult 30 minute tramp up to the top. Views from the crater rims are quite spectacular and if you are lucky you may get to glimpse the diurnal Samoan flying fox which have made their home in the crater base which is now overgrown with rainforest.
This option can be added ( weather  permitting)  to the above Taga tour for an extra $15 per person.

2. Tapa Making Demonstration- Siapo  is a type of cloth/paper which is made from the bark of a tree and then painted with colors made from raw  materials in the surrounding environment. Siapo making is an age old traditional art  form and it is delightful experience watching village ladie demonstrate how this is made .This stop can be added on to the Taga option for an extra $15 per person.

North coast tour - This tour takes a little more then half a day and covers the North Coast of Savaii. If collecting from the town area it will begin at the colourful Salelologa Markets for  a  brief  visit. If  starting the tour from The  Savaiian Hotel, this tour will start in the local Lalomalava village. Brief Stops are made at various natural attractions and areas of historical significance such  as Sapapalii where Christianity was first introduced to Samoa and local coastal freshwater springs.

 

The drive northwards is a delightful ride through many neat scattered coastal villages, opportunities for taking photos can be made along the way. The highlight of this tour include arriving at the Saleaula lava fields which are now 100 years old. A visit to the local legendary virgin's grave and church ruins amongst the lava are made.

Following this we will visit ‘'swim with the turtles'' where the opportunity to get into the water with these amazing creatures is provided. The Letui  ‘peá peá cave'  is our last stop, which is home to a local swiftlet  population which was almost wiped out in the recent 1990's cyclones, these graceful birds have found haven in a cave which is one of many naturally formed lava tubes.

Note- The Tafua crater can be challenging for some and is not advised for anyone with a disability. During rainy periods this option is not available due to safety reasons.

South Coast- This tour takes a little more then half a  day  and  covers  the south coast of Savaii. It starts  off  with  a brief visit  to our very colorful Salelologa market, a  colourful display of  fresh fruit  and local handicrafts are on offer daily. Following this we head off down the south coast.

This  drive will take you through several small coastal villages and luh rainforest area . Stops  are made at various natural attractions and areas of historical significance. The highlight of this tour is the arrival at the Taga blowholes which are  spectacular in  sight and force. Tour costs : 100 tala per person including entrance fees and a packed lunch, a minimum of 2 persons is required for tour bookings.
