Traveller Comments:
"We got married at Aggie Greys Lagoon Resort Dec 14 2009 and after the wedding the wife and I spent 3 days at Stevensons, Manase and absolutely LOVED our time there! From the minute we arrived staff were friendly and very helpful. Stevensons is a great place to just relax, swim, eat and HOLIDAY! Food was good and reasonably priced unlike any hotel in Upolu. We had spent a week before at Hotel Elisa, Aggie Greys Bungalows and Aggies Lagoon Resort and had trouble with service at all 3. Stevensons is by far our pick of the 4. One of Samoa's most beautiful beaches at the front door of our fale...truly romantic. We spent 2 nights in the Beach Villas and upgraded to their new rooms for our last night and LOVED it! Will definitely be back"

"WONDERFUL! Couldn't have asked for more."
Mr. Richard V. - United States on 11/11/2009
"Stevenson's was a great place to stay, we felt personally valued and appreciated by the staff, they knew our names and our room number consistently (even though we had to move about a couple times), the atmosphere was that of a close family all working together, to provide the best. Great value for money, awesome beach, and close to lots of attractions and activities, while still being off the beaten track. We'll be back esp after their planned renovations :)"
Mr. Joel C. - New Zealand on 12/10/2009
"The Beach Villas are just lovely! One thing I would recommend is perhaps having some sort of outside lighting available in the trees in front of the villas - as once the lights are out in your villa it is quite dark, and can be a little worrying for a person travelling on their own. Otherwise, it was just perfect!"
Ms. Charmaine J. - New Zealand on 12/09/2009
"From some of the comments we had read about Stevenson's @ Manase, we expected a bit more than we felt we got. Don't get me wrong, there was nothing that I can say was really wrong, maybe it was just my expectations. Would I stay there again? Yes, but maybe for only 2 nights - not 4 (like we did this time)

Did really enjoy the beach and beach front fale. Pitty about the noisy neighbours - maybe that's what the "problem" was."
Mr. Phil S. - New Zealand on 29/08/2009
"water in shower cold, but this was due to teething problems, meal quatity not big enough"
Mr. Martyn A. - New Zealand on 01/08/2009
"We found the staff to be exceptionally helpful, with the food and service being excellent. We loved the beach villa and it's location (being so close to the beach), the decor and the outisde shower. We had also booked an open fale for our teenage sons, but on arrival were told, due to over booking, they'd been transferred to a garden unit. This sounded exciting initially as this room had a shower and air con, but unfortunately the rooms were very tired, and the fale would have been a better option. But all in all a great place to stay. There were builders working there at the time and they even made a quick cricket bat for the kids to play cricket on the beach with!"
Mrs. Jenny M. - New Zealand on 29/07/2009
"The management had deliberately double-booked the beachfront villas in the hope that a block of new studio units would have been finished and that we would be happy to move into these. I gather this had become an on-going issue yet they had made no effort to secure us satisfactory alternative accommodation and suggested we take accommodation in a motel unit back at the wharf at Saleloga where there is nothing of interest. After much story-changing, eventually under pressure from samoa-hotels they did move us into a villa, but it took 2 hours to get us into it. This was simply appalling management. Other staff at the resort were clearly embarrassed at the situation and most were lovely. Despite the villa being run down it was in a great spot and we very much enjoyed our stay."
Mr. Rob B. - New Zealand on 16/07/2009
"Nicest bungalows in Manase. Great Food. A feeling of luxury at a very affordable price. By far my favourite place. Thankyou"
Ms. natalie m. - Australia on 24/06/2009
"Fales are gorgeous with their balconies n view of the sea.
Best accommodation when compared to surrounding accommodation"
Mrs. Michelle L. - United Kingdom on 21/06/2009
"Very pleasant stay in the Garden Rooms which are cheap and shabby (due to be renovated this year). Lovely people there. Generous breakfast and reasonable dinner included in the price (stick to the fish or chicken options). The place is a bit of a building site at the moment, but should be fantasic once all the work has finish (prob 2010). Hope they keep the prices realistic."
Mr. Edward W. - New Zealand on 28/05/2009
"Stevensons was horrible. We stayed in a family bungalow, the first impression was overall grubby. The mattresses were about 2 inches thick and the pillows were filled with foam cubes. There were no towel supplied, thery had to be hired at $5 each. There are cockroaches in the rooms, toilet and shower, also in the dining fale. There are cats everywhere, as soon as you get up to leave the table the cats are up there licking the plates clean. The food was ok, just try not to think what may be going on in the kitchen!! If this place didnt have the beach over the road, it would have nothing. I would never go back."
Ms. Cheryl H. - Australia on 09/04/2009
"Fantastic all round for stevensons"
Mr. Ian C. - New Zealand on 01/04/2009
"A beautiful location, great accommodation (we stayed in a villa), but the hot water wasn't working (but they gave us a discount). I would definately visit again. The villas are in need of a bit of updating but the location more than makes up for it! Breakfast was plentiful and the dinners were good."
Ms. Nicola S. - United Kingdom on 02/11/2008
"The beach villas are in a fantastic location and the accommodation was lovely. The servings for the food was small and variation in the complimentary breakfast menu would have been great. We found that the service & assistance by staff could have been better but managed to have some great help by the staff at Vacations Beach Fales. Next time we will stay at Vacations Beach Fales."
Ms. Vanessa M. - Australia on 29/09/2008
"We have just come back from 2 weeks in Samoa and believe me, it was very hard to leave. Part of our holiday was spent on Savaii and we had originally booked 3 nights at Stevenson's at Manase, we loved it and stayed an extra night. The garden studio was basic but all we needed as we spent most of our time on the beautiful beach across the road or talking to the staff. The delux beach fales are brilliant if you want something a bit posher, you step out of your fale directly on to the beach. The staff are what makes this place, they are the friendliest that we encountered in any of the places we stayed and we did stay in some expensive resorts but enjoyed Stevenson's more. The service is excellent, they love to have a chat and are always smiling or laughing. I highly recommend Stevenson's for a nice relaxing break, we are already planning a trip back next year."
Ms. Lyndall C. - Australia on 22/09/2008
"Enjoyed the vacation very much and considering coming back in the near future."
Mrs. Toaga S. - American Samoa on 04/09/2008
"Hi
We booked the garden room not realising it has no privacy what so ever.Due to no windows and beds being side by side we could hear the people whisper and even snore 2 rooms away. Very bad. Their fales are as good as you can expect. We would have gone into their other units on the beach if they had them available. We checked out and went to Janes Fales down the road. Also we heard another couple had money stolen and their luggage gone through again a day later (they had packed it a certain way to make sure they were not imagining it). Very bad!!!!!!We stayed one night, the food was good though.

Janes Fales very basic but ok, staff very nice.

Aggie Greys Hotel (we stayed there 4 nights) very good, recommend it to anyone. Very clean, restaurant fantastic.

Samoa is still very "islandic", island time exists and that was the fantasic thing about it. (the not so touristic thing).Taxi's are cheap and plentiful.

If you not staying at a resort hotel it is all very basic which I can imagine is not for every one. But we loved that about Samoa.

"Including breakfast and dinner in the daily tariff for garden unit made this a good value stay. Meals provided were of good quality and saved us the hassle of having to go and find other places to eat."
Mr. Geoffrey N. - Australia on 24/08/2008
"The drive to and from the warf was pretty scary. I would have loved a slower drive to be able to take in the scenic view. "
Mrs. Mona K. - United States on 12/08/2008
"A beautiful beach but sand tends to get everywhere. The location is excelent."
Mr. John G. - New Zealand on 03/08/2008
"Friendly, helpful staff and a beautiful beach. Fantastic breakfasts, and I gather a better choice of evening meals than neighbouring resorts. Only sorry we didnt book a year in advance to get a beachfront villa. "
Ms. Rachel H. - New Zealand on 06/07/2008
"These were by far the best fale we stayed in, as they were big, new, clean and not too close together. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We felt cared for but had plenty of space and privacy."
Ms. Katie L. - New Zealand on 10/06/2008
"Overall was a great experience with great staff on hand. However I think that with other resorts in the area I would say the Stevenson would need to upgrade thier block accomodations to match. Would certainly go back to Stevesons because of the staff."
Mrs. Georgia L. - New Zealand on 07/05/2008
"Great location, one of the best that we have seen in the South Pacific. Peter gave superb service and is a real asset to Stevenson's. The Beach Villas are in need of a little "tender loving care" to bring them up to their full potential. A great place to relax."
Mr. steve m. - New Zealand on 08/04/2008
"Great place to stay ... friendly staff who are always happy to help. Delicious food ... Beach bungalows are great, Garden bungalows ok, but a little bit of maintenance would make them even better"

"Garden rooms are horrible- tacky colours, dark and noisy. Beach Fales are much better value. Restaurant is across the road from the hotel, so people don't tend to be very social, preferring to have a drink at their fales enjoying the view or going down the road to a differnt resort."
Ms. Lena G. - New Zealand on 21/08/2007
"Beach villas are in a prime spot on a lovely beach and very quiet and peaceful. From here you can see both sunrise and sunset. The villa is much bigger than it appeared in photos with two double beds, sofa and chairs inside, and table and chairs outside. It is decorated in tapa on the walls and ceiling and a tile floor. Both aircon and fan worked well to cool the room. The loo/shower are basic but clean and functional. The staff are charming, genuinely friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were both good value, with 3 choices for dinner."
