Samoa Hotel Reviews

Seabreeze Resort at Paradise Cove, South Coast, Upolu Island

Book

From: SAT 375.00

Seabreeze made our trip to Samoa most memorable. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. The restaurant menu has something for everyone and the food was the best on the whole island - breakfast, lunch and dinner!- 06/06/2009, Mrs. Barbara Jager

Beautiful location. Good experience except for rap music in the restaurant when Samoan music would have been more appropriate.- 07/12/2008, Mr. Brian Gillespie

Talanoa Fales, Moamoa, Upolu Island

Book

Location: town

From: SAT 80.00

We enjoyed our stay very much. The gardens are beautiful and the owners friendly and helpful.- 07/06/2009, Ms. Tania Patterson

My family and I stayed at Talanoa Fales and I cannot say enough about how we enjoyed our stay. We stayed 2 nights and found the accommodation to be very nice indeed. The owners were very welcoming and absolutely helpful and they should be very proud of their facilities and the beautiful gardens which are obviously well taken care off. Thank you again Seumanu and Serena. I will definitely be telling all my friends and family about your place. See you both again soon. kind regards Cecilia Rappel- 05/04/2009, Mrs. Cecilia Rappel

Sunset View Fales-Manono Island

Book

From: SAT 130.00

The hosts were so accommodating and nothing was a problem. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time and will certainly consider staying there again in the future.- 04/10/2009, Mrs. Helen Faamoe

This place was truely outstanding. Such a friendl family feel to it. Enjoyed being included in the prepration of the Umu. Ewan, Jay and the Chief, Leota where warm, friendly and inviting. Always had something to do there and if we wanted to chill out there was plenty of that too. Would highly recommend.- 17/09/2009, Ms. Angela Yorke

Namu'a Island Beach Fales

Book

Location: Upolu Coastal

From: SAT 90.00

This place would have been great if it wasn't for the wind! Our fale walls where going sideways throughout the night and this keep us up. Be warned, the prices are different in the Lonely Planet. To leave you car is not 10tala a day. All meals are not included in the price as it states in the LP. Puppies where great on the Island.- 17/09/2009, Ms. Angela Yorke

The last night, they put a tarpauline as they were expecting bad weather. This proved to be extremely noisey and disruptive for sleep. At the Falealupo Fales, they simply tied rope around the slats, which was much more successful.- 18/08/2009, Mr. Philip La Roche

Manumea Resort, Apia Samoa

Book

Location: town

From: SAT 375.00

Low Season, few guest and no interest. They just focussed on entertaining their family. We felt like disturbing elements - sorry for staying at you hotel.- 12/01/2010, Mr. Achim Rogmann

Manumea was fantastic. Great service and friendly people.- 23/11/2009, Ms. Lynette Inu

Regina's Beach Fales - Manase, Savaii

Book

From: SAT 70.00

Although I was supposed to be picked up at the wharf in Savaii, upon arrival noone from Regina's was there to meet me. I was compensated for my taxi ride, which was realy great, and on arrival was greeted in a friendly manner with a lunch of fresh fruit ready and waiting! Note to travellers that during rainy season it is a good idea to bring extra sheets or towels, blankets for sleeping/showering as they do not dry and you cannot receive extras there. Reginas is one of many beach falet accomodations, and has its ups and downs as they all do. If you are loking for good beach front or water conditions go for janes, as reginas has limited beach and there rock/reef immediately in front. The food was sub-par, although i was not bothered. It is a good thing as you are fed three meals, and all other places provide two, but from what I have heard the food is much better at Stevensons and Vacations. It is a good idea to bring snacks as meals do not vary in their selection. if you are looking for basic falets, Reginas is a good option, though if you want something a little higher standard try janes or stevensons or tanu. There are no decks on the front with chairs for sitting and showers are limited in their availability. Overall, I think I sit on the fence here as there are many options for acoomodation and they are all quite comparable. Reginas is the cheapest and for your money the value is quite good. Keep in mind wherever you book these are not luxury falets and with that in mind enjoy the local sites and attractions. There is a little bar close by kayaks/snorkel gear can be rented down the beach, though not from Reginas. It was tough to see such young girls running the entire business, though they are very good at accomodating guests and making you feel welcome!- 19/11/2009, Ms. Tanya Keough

Regina's was recommended us by a friend and we had a great time there. We felt home since the moment we arrive and during all the time. Thanks for everything! We highly recommend Regina's!- 26/10/2009, Ms. Angela Schlabitz

Berties B&B, Upolu, Vaitele, Upolu Island

Book

From: SAT 65.00

A great introduction to Samoa from the late night pick up at the airport to the next days delivery to the ferry. We felt welcomed and relaxed.- 20/08/2009, Mrs. Nancy Carr

I felt like family here. I hated to leave. I enjoyed the casual atmosphere and chatting with the other Bertie guests. I particularly enjoyed Mark, Mairanna, David and Jasmine. I will leave Samoa considering them friends.- 22/07/2009, Ms. Mary Haslinger

Vaisala Hotel, Vaisala, Savaii Island

Book

From: SAT 100.00

Felt the meals were a little on the expensive side (especially compared to what we paid at other accommodation) which is why we have gone for happy in overall impression/value. That said, we would/will go back here as it has got to be Samoa's best kept secret, and the beach is fantastic.- 29/08/2009, Mr. Phil Stanton

Overall a good experience. Evening meals a bit expensive for what they were, and the dining area could be improved by making it easier to meet with other guests, rather than be PLACED at a table just for you. A beautiful setting for the hotel, and staff friendly- 28/08/2009, Mr. Brian Queree

Aniva's Place Bed & Breakfast, Apia, Upolu Island

Book

From: SAT 110.00

We would be most happy to recommend Aniva's Place and would go there again if we return to Apia.- 21/07/2009, Mr. Owen Mills

Bob made us feel so very welcome, from the very minute we arrived. He took us in as if we were friends. His place is so very safe, we didn't even have to lock our room door. Everything was so comfortable, clean, and quiet, it was just what we wanted. Breakfast we delicious, and the staff was so very friendly. If only the rest of the hotel world would realize how easy it is to make people feel welcome like Bob and Aniva did with us! We love Aniva's place!- 01/04/2009, Mr. Glenn Fournier

Stevenson's at Manase, Manase, Savaii Island

Book

From: SAT 100.00

We got married at Aggie Greys Lagoon Resort Dec 14 2009 and after the wedding the wife and I spent 3 days at Stevensons, Manase and absolutely LOVED our time there! From the minute we arrived staff were friendly and very helpful. Stevensons is a great place to just relax, swim, eat and HOLIDAY! Food was good and reasonably priced unlike any hotel in Upolu. We had spent a week before at Hotel Elisa, Aggie Greys Bungalows and Aggies Lagoon Resort and had trouble with service at all 3. Stevensons is by far our pick of the 4. One of Samoa's most beautiful beaches at the front door of our fale...truly romantic. We spent 2 nights in the Beach Villas and upgraded to their new rooms for our last night and LOVED it! Will definitely be back- 05/01/2010, Mr. Nat Alexander

WONDERFUL! Couldn't have asked for more.- 11/11/2009, Mr. Richard Vanoel

Vaiala Beach Cottages, Apia, Upolu Island

Book

From: SAT 126.00

good value for money and Nigel is great and full of tips to make a stay in Samoa a true experience.- 02/09/2009, Mr. GEORGE EDOAURD

Nigel - the proprietor - bent over backwards to make us welcome and even let us stay for most of the day on checkout day to ensure we could enjoy our holiday to the last minute. Like most places in Samoa, the cottages are simple and no frills but are functional.- 23/07/2009, Mr. Ulrich Speidel

Satuiatua Beach Fales, Satupaitea, Savaii island

Book

From: SAT 65.00

great accomidation- 18/09/2009, Mr. jordan engelsman

The over the water fale was ok, although it was really just a house over the water. We also didn't realise that there were other rooms in the house rented out to other travellers, so if you are looking for privacy, you are probably better off in a beach fale. The food was wonderful, probably the best we've had so far. You get to choose your dinner from a menu and they prepare it for you in time for dinner, all included in the cost of accommodation. The only gripe I have was that no-one told us we had to pre-order our dinner when we checked in, so we were in the restaurant waiting an hour and a half for our dinner. That would have been fine if the waitress had come and let us know that our meals might be awhile, but she walked past us several times and didn't even stop to tell us how long we should expect to wait - and we were the only customers in there. All it would have taken was a few words and we would have been happy to wait.- 20/04/2009, Ms. Diana Erika

Hotel Millenia, Apia, Upolu Island

Book

From: SAT 250.00

Very friendly and helpful staff. Would suggest that after experiencing 2 evacuations during our stay that perhaps consideration be given to displaying information for evacuation in each room. Also noted that there were no smoke alarms in our room. Would be only too happy to stay again.- 12/10/2009, Mrs. Jeanette Golder

The only written advice in the room concerned the pool. Some more written information would have been helpful. (Phone, laundry service, local amenities). When we checked in our room was short on towels, lacked a remote for the TV and there was no iron to go with the ironing board, but the staff were friendly and quick to put things right. The restaurant and bar were very good as was the pool. We would happily stay here again- 20/08/2009, Mrs. Nancy Carr

Dave Parker's Eco-Lodge

Book

From: SAT 40.00

This place was paradise, set high up on the mountain above Apia with amazing views. Very helpful, friendly staff. Good selection of wines, beer. It's quite far from Apia, so arrive with a good supply of snacks, etc. It's a 30 tala taxi ride into town or Dave himself will run you into Apia on his way to his shop in the morning. Good, simple western food. Lots of flying foxes to watch. Wish we were still there!- 09/10/2009, Mr. Christopher Burcin

very good- 23/08/2009, Mr. Grant Hughes

Faofao Beach Fales & Hotel, South Coast, Upolu Island

Book

From: SAT 80.00

We had the most enjoyable, memorable experience. Tapu and his family at the FaoFao Beach Fales made us feel most welcome into their village and their lives for the three days we were there. The fales are clean and comfortable and everything we expected and wanted them to be. The proximity to the beach was fantastic and we felt like we had our own snorkelling playground literally at our doorstep. I do feel though, that travellers must be made aware that the credit card facilities are not available. We were lucky, we checked and made sure we had enough cash before leaving Apia. The food was plentiful and absolutely delicious and the Fia Fia extremely entertaining. Once again, we were made to feel extremely welcome at this show and our family thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you Fao Fao Beach Fales for the most relaxing, refreshing and memorable holiday ever.- 02/10/2009, Ms. Karen Shields

The fales on the beach at Fao Fao had a magical atmosphere being so close to the water. The bathroom facilities were amazing having regard to the basic nature of the accommodation. The owners took care to ensure the safety of its patrons when there was concern as to the height the waves were coming on to the beach on our last night - our children moved in to our fale.- 16/09/2009, Mrs. Debbie White

Lovely stay. Enjoyed the Samoan dancing. Missed having a hot shower though. Excellent snorkeling. Fales close together and sound travels easily though.- 28/08/2009, Mr. Lynne Hayes

We both enjoyed our experience at Taufua Beach Fales and would be more than happy to recommend them to others as a destination. We thought it was value for money and overall a great place to stay. Staff were friendly and helpful and made our stay enjoyable and we intend to come back. S. Nicholson- 23/05/2009, Ms. Susan Nicholson

Virgin Cove Resort, South Coast, Upolu Island

Book

From: SAT 85.00

Good- 30/11/2009, Mr. Julien VOISIN

Virgin Cove was a great place to stay for beauty but a few suggested improvement are belwo: The fales were in need of new mattresses and pillows - we had one set of sheets that was riddled in mould! The beds were damp and mosquito nets had holes in them. Not very nice to sleep on. Also, when the Virgin Cove staff left at nighttime after dinner they were very nosy and had music blarring which woke the guests up. Daily water bottles provided would have been good too. Overall the accomodation and outdoor shower/bathroom was a bit tired and a bit of revamp for the fales and bathrooms is needed sooner rather than later. Also, if you are staying for more than three nights be prepared to eat the same or a very similar meal because they are missing quite a fewitems on the menu - it became a running joke to guess what wasn't available for dinner that night!- 22/09/2009, Mrs. Claire McMahon

Lusia's Lagoon Chalets, Salelologa, Savaii Island

Excellent, such a nice place. We really enjoyed our time in Lusia's. Extremly nice people. Awesome food, great snorkeling (you have to use the kayak and go a little bit further, but just 3 minutes, there is plenty of corals, fishes and clear water). Highly recommended to all. Thanks for the great time.- 17/11/2009, Mr. Erasmo Macaya

Hotel Elisa Budget Accommodation

Book

Location: town

I was happy with budget accommodation---you get what you pay for. Jack.- 27/12/2009, Mr. jack fretton

Arrived after being delayed in Auckland about an hour to find no booking for us even though I had the booking sheet saying we had booked. Another room was hurriedly readied for us and after waiting 30mins were checked in. On my return to Elisas for a night before I flew out;booked the shuttle and was told at reception it would be there at 12 to pick me up.It apparently came at 11 leaving me stranded but after some deliberation they did offer me the 25tala to get to the airport which was half the fare as I had other half which was the price of the shuttle.- 05/09/2009, Ms. maree witten

Airport Lodge, West Coast, Upolu Island

Book

From: SAT 150.00

Location was great in that the beach was over the road and we were able to watch a beautiful sunset on our last night there. The room was okay, a bit old but it's possible that thats was you get in Samoa unless you stay at a resort. The kitchen could have done with a washcloth and dishwashing liquid. Shower was really good. They organised our transfer to the airport well (0430hrs). I thought it was quite expensive but we wanted to be close to the airport.- 29/09/2009, Ms. Mary Pearce

Lovely to have a swimming pool to cool off in after travelling from Savaii. The fale was lovely to finish our stay in Samoa, with our own bathroom facilities, after sharing bathroom facilities at the beach fales in Upolu and Savaii. Again, everything was clean and tidy. The dinner setting was striking under an open fale with mozzie burner. A lovely finish to our stay in Samoa.- 17/09/2009, Mrs. Debbie White

Litia Sini Beach Resort, South Coast, Upolu Island

Book

From:

The charm of the beautiful location was marred by the lack of cleanliness of the facilities. We have stayed in basic accomodation before, but basic does not have to mean dirty. Disappointed with the attitude of staff and general run down state of facilites.- 17/08/2009, Ms. Christine Glasgow

Very professionally run, a bit westernized in many ways, but with loads of personal touch. Snorkelling right off the beach was great. However, if it's to stay that way, someone needs to tell the tourists not to stand with their flippers on the coral - I saw several people do this, including one guy with a kid on his shoulders. There was more dead coral around than at other places we snorkelled at, which is a warning sign. Food was very good here, although lunch was a little overpriced for what it offered.- 23/07/2009, Mr. Ulrich Speidel

Aggie Greys was great for the one night we stayed there. The only problem was - it was too far from town. Definitely need a car next time we stay there.- 23/11/2009, Ms. Lynette Inu

They do have a very rude front desk staff person that needs a talking too. The food was ok not great like I expected. Needs work on transfers to amd from the airport (none avail. overall ok- 13/08/2008, Mr. Nicholas KIng Jr

Siufaga Beach Resort & Restaurant, Siufaga, Savaii Island

Book

From: SAT 260.00

Staff were pleasant and friendly. They seemed a little unsure of how to run some aspects of the resort but this is more of a training issue rather than attitude. The resort itself is stunning and a delightful place to stay. Would happily return and recommend it to others.- 17/08/2009, Ms. Christine Glasgow

Yeah, both my partner and i were not to happy with this resort esspecially at the price they charge, a few things that we were not to happy with, no hot water in the showers at all, the water was cold, good for in the day time but if you wanted a shower before dinner not good, and when we said something upon check out the girl just said that it was warm some parts of the day but did'ent know what time of the day that, that was. All remotes for air-con and TV had flat batteries so could not opperate temp in room, now for the price you pay per night i mean come on. It specified cable tv as well there was no cable tv it was turned on about two hours before we had to check out, now if these things don't work or are not on DON'T put it in your web site as it is a selling point and really i have classed this as misleading advertising. Also when your on holiday you do not expect to be woken up at 8am in the morning by a gardener and his petrol leaf blower, 10am maybee not 8am. and to top it of when we were leaveing the resort we needed to get back to the ferry terminal we asked for our options, And we were told taxi, now another couple were leaveing aswell so we thought we would ask them if they wanted to share a taxi, to which they replied that they were getting to the ferry in the resorts transfer van which cost 25 tala, now this shocked me as it seemed to me that if the van already had someone booked on it going to the same place, would you not want to make the resort you work for more money as in the long run the resort pays there wages, seemed to me that the staff were looking after there relations who drove the taxis, over all pretty poor, i would not stay there at all ever again, and as both myself and my partner both work in tourism in New Zealand we know what to expect from the opperaters, and some of the staff very un helpful, wished we had spent our money somewhere else....- 17/08/2009, Mr. Vale Lamb

Akoi Beach Fales, Fagaloa Bay, East Coast, Upolu Island

Book

Location: Upolu Coastal

From: SAT 65.00

Idyllic location and quite remote - no one else there for all of our stay. Very different to your usual tourist spot. Very very relaxing. Run by really friendly family from the local village. If you like going bush and truly getting away from it all this is the place. The shower needs to be upgraded though.- 31/08/2009, Mr. Anne Edwards

We wanted to experience the true Samoa and we got it. The isolation and lack of other guests detracted from the experience but the stay was enjoyable.- 28/06/2009, Mr. Andrew McMinn

1848 Princess Tui Inn, Apia, Upolu Island

Book

From: SAT 49.00

The ocean view standard room was ideal for our family of four. Lovely breakfasts - a chance to try the foods of Samoa. It was a great start to our holidays, with friendly staff, and close to Apia business centre.- 16/09/2009, Mrs. Debbie White

A clean friendly base from which to explore Apia, helpful staff and great breakfast - a tip for future visitors - the beer at Princess Tui is very expensive, so buy elsewhere!- 02/11/2008, Ms. Nicola Starkey

Safua Hotel, Lalomalava, Savaii Island

Book

From: SAT 110.00

The staff and atmosphere at the Safua Hotel are quite exceptional. They are great ambassadors for Samoan culture. The food was excellent, and staff and local people provided great entertainment in the evenings. We had returned to Safua Hotel after a previous visit 16 years ago. We hope to return again - much sooner this time !- 19/07/2009, Mr. Marshall Clark

Safua Hotel must have seen better days as the place does need some refurbishment, a fresh coat of paint and some new furniture to spruce things up into the 2000s. The service staff and team is however, the redeeming point - friendly and helpful and the fact that the Hotel is in the midst of a Samoan village (Safua) does bring along with the location, the idyllic charms of staying in a real village and mingling with the locals.- 13/01/2009, Mr. Xuess Wee

Sina PJ Fales, South Coast, Upolu Island

Book

From: SAT 70.00

We stayed two nights at Sina PJ Fales (August 2009). Our family (2 adults/1 child (4 y.o)) have had a few problems at Sina PJ Fales, South Coast, Upolu Island. Some of them are mentioned below: 1. The owner did not provide a mosquito net for our fale for both days/nights. Before first night, I talked with owner/manager of the Sina PJ Fales and made a notice about mosquito net. She said that it will be on its place immediately. Unfortunately, it was never happened. We have had and used before night a tropical strength anti-mosquito cream, but this did not protect us from bites. After first night, we have gotten a number of mosquito bites, especially our daughter. A few times during the second day, I asked owner/manager to put the mosquito net in our fale, but she only answer that she will do it immediately, and never did it. Second night. And we have gotten a new mosquito bites. This is unbelievable, but this was like it was. I would suggest to put on a page of Sina PJ Fales at www.samoa-hotels.ws, should be place a remark (in bold font) that a mosquito net did not provided with owner/manager of Sina PJ Fales, and you must bring your own. On Sina PJ Fales page at www.samoa-hotels.ws you can easily found: "Room amenities: Mosquito Nets, Living Room/Sitting Area, Mosquito nets" 2. In addition, we were really surprised, that our daughter (4 y.o.) "only stay for free" at Sina PJ Fales. But if she wants to eat (it seems like, she would not necessary wants to do that), we need to pay for her meals. It was not a large amount, but for us it was an indication, that we are not confident for want we need to pay, for what we do not, and an expectation of a new pays is not provide a relaxation for our vacational leave. But, if you look in Sina PJ Fales page at www.samoa-hotels.ws you can easily found: "Policy on children staying with parents: - No extra charges for children under 4 years of age" It seems like, it should be more clarity for something, that you need to pay on Sina PJ Fales page at www.samoa-hotels.ws. 3. We have found, that there is sufficient annoying advertisement, that placed on a door of our fale at Sina PJ Fales. It was a note about a strong tradition of Christianity in the village of Sina PJ Fales. So, based on this, there is a very strict requirement for visitors to be inside of their fale (i.e, do not swim, walk, etc., but only sitting inside of fale) at any time between 6:00-6:30 p.m., due to a prayer. I am Christian, but I never heard about this tradition (i.e., the request, that all tourists must be in their rooms at certain time) in any Christian countries, where I lived before (Europe and North America) and one Buddhism country (Japan). My wife is not Christian, she is from Muslim family. From her words, this type of request (i.e., strict requests for something, that is not necessarily rational) is more similar to Muslim countries traditions. It seems like it should be better advertise on the page of Sina PJ Fales at www.samoa-hotels.ws, in a bold font, that if you choose Sina PJ Fales you must accept, that you must be inside of your fale between 6:00-6:30 p.m. every day of your staying at the place. It will be more proud, to inform visitors in advance, not after their arriving. 4. We were shocked that Sina PJ Fales are under construction at the moment. All days, there was a permanent movement of large Toyota dump truck with sand in a distance of 5-6 meters from our and others fales. I would say, that Sina PJ Fales is not a place for vacation at the moment. This is place is more for construction now. It must be add on a page of Sina PJ Fales at www.samoa-hotels.ws, that the place is under strong construction work at the moment. 5. There is not any night entertainment at Sina PJ Fales at all. Based on all mentioned above problems, we made low marks for many positions for this place. From other hand, there were a very positive things as well. Great thing was related to welcome of our daughter with children of Sina PJ Fales owner/manager. They played all days, without even one crying for two days. It is extremely great and unbelievble. There are very polite children. For this reason, we mark "Check in/Welcome" position as a "Great". I hope, our comments help as owner/managers of Sina PJ Fales, as other visitors, to be more prepared for staying at Sina PJ Fales. Thank you. Regards, Clara, Nailya and Evgeny Talantsev- 30/08/2009, Mr. Evgeny Talantsev

This is an awesome place to be! Very recommendable for a real Samoan experience and Malae, Netina, Aska and the kids are gorgeous.- 20/06/2009, Mr. Nico Kurpiers

Maninoa Beach Surf, South Coast, Upolu Island

Book

From: SAT 125.00

Food , good solid and plenty to go around.. great for a days surfing. Shame they cant put a solar unit on the showers, coldwater only. You are paying a premium for the surf, there are other better fales if you just want a fale experience.- 19/09/2009, Mr. John Marshall

The location was lovely and some aspects were fine with the facilities. However, we felt there could be improvements - such as having an electric jug or urn in the dining room so guests can make a hot cuppa in morning when rising, especially as breakfasts are late due to surfers eating late. Also the toilet block was not good. Constantly running out of toilet paper, often smelly, broken toilet seat in the ladies and the mens one stank. There was only one outside shower and the women's one had no shower rose.It would have been good to have had a few salads and a pasta dish at dinner too for variety. - 06/10/2008, Mr. Greg Burmester

Jet Over Hotel, Salelologa, Savaii Island

Book

From: SAT 100.00

Accomodation was okay but could do with a few improvements.- 14/09/2009, Mrs. Ulala Barnes

This hotel has some rooms with cold water only showers in the ensuite. In 4 days of staying here they never changed the towls or made the bed or cleaned in any way the room. (I have come to learn that is normal in Samoa). In the first room we were in it was very noisy a light was in the inside window all night the air con had never had the filter cleaned but this was still the best of the hotels that we stayed in. Samoa needs to wake up about service and hygeane.- 19/08/2009, Mrs. LINDA SAYWOOD

From: SAT 255.00

Rooms were basic but had plenty of room for 2 Adults and 2 younger children and were all that we required. Bathrooms could be a lot cleaner as both rooms we stayed in on our two visits had a stale urine smell in and around the toilet. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and coped well given the influx of guests due to the tsunami during our stay. Breakfasts were good and accommodated an early breakfast on the day of our early morning flight departure. We would stay here again- 04/11/2009, Mrs. Julie Warner

Room was clean and basic. Not much information in the room as to the services available or where the ammenities were. No after hours services available.- 27/08/2009, Mr. Raymond Pichon
