Throughout the year there are some exciting festivals, cultural celebrations and events in Samoa. Be sure to check here regularly so you don't miss any of these wonderful Samoa events.

Samoa became independant in 1962, being the first island nation in the Pacific to achieve this status. The country takes time out to reflect and celebrate its independance from colonial rule. The  fiercely contested "Fautasi Race" (Long boat race) usually wraps up the celebrations for another year.

The Pacific Netball Series features Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji and Papua New Guinea. Samoa hosted the inaugural series in 2009.

3 Great Swims in 3 Days. Welcome to the 2013 Swims. We are again offering 3 Great Swims in 3 Days! The swims were carefully selected to fit with schedule and tides, and a balancing act between travel to sites and your enjoyment. Two of the swims, Tafatafa and Mulivai, are on the South Coast. The popular Falefa Falls swim returns to challenge us all - swimmers and organisers alike.

Samoa is shaping up to be the Action Capital of the Pacific during the southern winter months and you do not have to seek competition further than your own backdoor step.

The inaugural Samoa Iron Challenge offers a magnificent half ironman course on the main island Upolu with transition at the heart of the Samoan capital Apia with the government buildings as the backdrop to the race transition. The Swim is in Apia Harbour and the 90km ride through the villages to the east on the north coast of Upolu. The bike course offers some magnificent scenery. The final leg, the 21km run takes in two circuits of the historic Apia Harbour.

Come now, find your inner warrior for the inaugural Samoa Iron Challenge. Nothing like being a part of the first ever event, one of many in this developing adventure hub in the South Pacific. You were here for the first Iron Challenge Samoa has to offer.

Samoans take time out to celebrate Father's Day on the second Sunday in August every year. Fathers are given special place on Sunday with Monday off to recover before getting back to the realities of work.

Teuila Festival is a tourism driven festival where different traditional activities are show cased. This is an excellent time for visitors to join in the fun. Accommodation is usually at a premium also as a lot of Samoans return home for the festivities and to participate in this return to roots festival.

A truely special day in Samoa, held the second Sunday in October, to celebrate the children. The hundreds of churches around the country come alive with singing, the congregations look splendid in their crisp white outfits - this is a day where children come first. A magical time to visit Samoa.
